Does Trae Young Want To Stay With Atlanta Hawks? All-Star Speaks Out
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

After joining the Atlanta Hawks in 2018 and becoming its franchise player, the team’s fanbase has slowly turned on Trae Young. In response, the All-Star point guard has revealed whether he wants to stay as a Hawk or move on to another team.

Young first entered the NBA as the Dallas Mavericks’ fifth overall pick in the 2018 Draft and traded right away to the Hawks for Luka Doncic. Right from the get-go, the rookie made an impact for his team by dropping 19.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game that year.

Two years later, Young would go on to lift Atlanta towards a deep playoff run that culminated in an Eastern Conference Finals appearance. During that 16-game stretch, he averaged 28.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 9.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest. And even though the Hawks lost to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, many thought that the All-Star guard’s time as one of the most dominant scorers in the NBA has arrived.

Unfortunately, his past few seasons playing for the Hawks didn’t really turn out well. If it wasn’t injuries holding him back, it was Young’s inability to lead Atlanta to strong finishes during the regular season, which could have resulted in a high seed in the playoffs. Moreover, fans are seeing how his ball-dominant style have rubbed other teammates in the wrong way.

All-Star Trae Young Speaks Out On His Future With the Atlanta Hawks

With all of the issues hounding him, Young finally spoke up and addressed his future in Atlanta. In a video clip of From The Point posted on X, the Hawks’ All-Star reveals his thoughts on the matter.

Even though he missed a good chunk of the season, Young still averaged 25.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 10.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He also shot 43 percent from the field, 37 from deep, and 85 percent from the free throw line.

Even though the offseason hasn’t official begun yet, fans can expect speculations on Young’s tenure in Atlanta to be one of the major storylines to look out for. In any case, it’s going to be a long wait until everyone knows whether he’s going to be traded to another team or not.
