On Thursday, Paris Saint-Germain got some grim news: Lucas Hernandez will be sidelined for the remainder of the season. The French defender got injured during their 1-0 loss against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal.

Hernandez left the game toward the end of the first half against the German side. It’s now revealed that the 27-year-old suffered a torn ACL. The injury will keep him out for six to seven months.

Due to this, Hernandez won’t be able to participate in the upcoming second leg against Dortmund, nor will he be available for the Champions League final if PSG advances to that point.

He’ll also miss the Coupe de France Final against Olympique Lyonnais, as well as the UEFA Euro 2024 this summer. The PSG center-back’s brother, AC Milan sensation Theo Hernandez, took to Twitter and offered an emotional and encouraging message.

“My brother, life is testing you again,” Theo wrote on the social media platform. “You have all my support, I know your mind and I know that you will come back stronger as usual. Always with you my brother.”

PSG will now look to overcome a 1-0 deficit without their key defender at home when they host Dortmund on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes.
