Jadon Sancho backed to reignite his Manchester United career by World Cup winner
ANP

Former Italy striker Alessandro Del Piero has backed Jadon Sancho to return to Old Trafford this summer and reignite his Manchester United career.

It is some call from the Del Piero given the reasons Erik ten Hag had to freeze the winger out of his squad earlier this season. United were left with no other choice but to find him a new club in January when he agreed a temporary deal with Borussia Dortmund.

There has been a lot of talk about Sancho over the past 24 hours following his impressive display in Dortmund’s 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Erik ten Hag was quizzed on Sancho’s performance during his pre-match press conference ahead of United’s trip to Crystal Palace.

However, Sancho’s performance has also drawn plaudits from icons within the game, including World Cup-winner Del Piero.

Del Piero has told CBS Sports, as per the Manchester Evening News: “When a player like him can play these kind of games, with this kind of quality, you need to go to Man United. Next year maybe, one more year, let’s see how he feels, which coach, ok, everything, this kind of player needs to play every year at the top. And Dortmund don’t get me wrong, they deserve to be there, they may go to the final and win the Champions League, but [it would be] something extraordinary for that.”

As Ten Hag alluded to earlier today, nobody is denying Sancho’s talents after he showed why United brought to him the club. It’s a matter of professionalism and the consistency that is required to play at the highest level.

I think a lot of pundits are acting like Sancho won the Champions League last night.
